Dr. Park, MD.
Dr. Jong Park is a board certified ophthalmologist and fellowship trained vitreoretinal surgeon. He grew up in Toronto, attending the University of Toronto Schools and then Victoria College, University of Toronto. He graduated from U of T as a John H. Moss Scholarship Finalist, awarded to the top 5 overall graduating students in the Faculty of Arts & Science.
He then moved to the United States to attend medical school at Duke University School of Medicine on a full merit scholarship. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Stanford University School of Medicine, and then his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Associated Retinal Consultants and Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, widely regarded as one of the top retina fellowships in the world.
In addition to his medical and surgical training, he completed a genetics research fellowship as a Howard Hughes Medical Institute research fellow in the laboratory of HHMI Investigator Dr. Elizabeth Engle at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
He has authored multiple publications in the leading journals of his field, including Ophthalmology, JAMA Ophthalmology, Ophthalmology Retina, and RETINA. He has received numerous awards for his research, including the Vice Dean’s Basic Science Research Award from Duke, the Marmor-Blumenkranz Resident Research Award from Stanford, and the Raymond R. Margherio Award from The Retina Society.
Dr. Park is grateful to be part of an outstanding community of ophthalmologists and retina specialists, including his many incredible mentors. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Vit-Buckle Society, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
Dr. Park considers it a tremendous honour and privilege to take care of his patients. He is thrilled to return to Canada with the opportunity to serve patients in his hometown.
