Dr. Ahmed Javed
Dr. Ahmed Javed is a Staff Ophthalmologist at TRI. He was formerly the lead for the Retinal Detachment Service at the University Teaching Hospital in Lincoln, UK, where his innovative work in developing the service gained national recognition for delivering sight-saving surgeries.
Graduating with honours from medical school, Dr. Javed pursued a Master’s in Ocular Oncology and trained in Scotland before completing advanced clinician-scientist training in Nottingham, where he was awarded an NIHR Research Fellowship and earned a second Master’s in Education. He has published widely, received multiple awards, and continues to advance research and innovation in Ophthalmology. Alongside his clinical and research work, he has held faculty positions at the University of Dundee and the University of Nottingham, contributing to the education and training of future ophthalmologists.
He went on to complete a two-year Vitreoretinal Fellowship, first in Nottingham and then at Birmingham’s Midland Eye Centre—one of the oldest and largest ophthalmology institutions in the UK and Europe, renowned for its expertise in vitreoretinal surgery. Shaped by the UK’s long tradition of excellence in ophthalmology, Dr. Javed brings a depth of training and surgical expertise to complement TRI’s outstanding team
